CareOne Assisted Living Concert 12/2/22

Another fabulous Music To Your Ears concert at the CareOne facility in Livingston NJ! Residents enjoyed vocal performances as well as music played on the piano, flute, and violin from our volunteer musicians. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and truly appreciate the concert.

CareOne Assisted Living Concert 10/7/22

Music To Your Ears held a concert at the CareOne Assisted Living facility in Livingston, New Jersey. Pamela played alongside Dr. Hagen and performed Mozart’s Concerto No. 4 in D Major, K. 218.

Juneteenth Celebration at Carnegie Hall 6/19/22

Pamela with New Jersey Youth Orchestra’s special chamber orchestra played at Carnegie Hall’s Juneteenth Celebration.  This was an important concert commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans back in 1865.  The 30-member chamber size orchestra played with a choir, soloist and the entire audience on 3 songs: “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, “America the Beautiful” and “I Need You To Survive”. 

Elite International Music Competition 4/16/22

Pamela was a 1st Place winner at the Elite International Music Competition for the second year in a row.  She performed  Introduction and Tarantella, Opus 43, by Pablo de Sarasate at Carnegie Hall. 

New Jersey Youth Symphony Playathon 3/27/22

Playathon, one of the New Jersey Youth Symphony’s (NJYS) most beloved traditions featuring a day of music, is back for the first time in 2 years.  Over 450+ musicians played our favorite scores at the Westfield Armory in Westfield, NJ.  Although the performance is usually held publicly, the concert was featured on live stream for everyone to enjoy.  Pieces played include the theme from Superman, The Star Spangled Banner, Hedwig’s Theme (Harry Potter), and the Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Song, to name a few.

Playathon is NJYS’s biggest fundraiser helping to support scholarship and financial aid opportunities for students in their pursuit of education in music, as well as to obtain world-class artists and master classes.  This year NJYS played in solidarity with Ukraine where 25% of donations are being sent to Doctors Without Borders to provide medical aid in the Ukraine.

CareOne Assisted Living Concert 3/9/22

Music to Your Ears held a concert at the CareOne Assisted Living facility in Livingston NJ.  The residents were treated to a variety of musical performances including a classic chamber trio (violin, cello & piano), a soulful vocalist, as well as several string and piano compositions.  The evening was truly uplifting.

Elite International Music Competition January 2021

In January of 2021, Pamela participated in the Elite International Music Competition. She was extremely excited to find out that she won first place for her performance of Bach’s Sarabande in D Minor. For winning first place, Pamela will be playing in a winners circle concert in late March.

Continuing Education December 2020

During the COVID pandemic musical opportunities were limited. Due to this, Pamela enrolled in a 6-week Introduction to Music Theory class at Berklee College of Music. In this course, she learned the theory behind notes, chords, and scales to better help her understanding of music, earning a certificate of achievement. She is excited to apply her newfound knowledge in her daily life as a musician.

New Jersey Youth Symphony Outdoor Concert 11/7/2020

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the New Jersey Youth Symphony orchestra rehearsals had to be online. To facilitate performances compliant with COVID guidelines, the orchestra had to be split into smaller groups and rehearse in-person and outdoors. November 7, 2020, Pamela performed Antonín Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings, Op. 22 Mov. I and V in E Minor. Despite being masked, socially distanced, and with fewer orchestra members, it was truly a beautiful experience for all to be joined together once again by music.

Violin Solo Concert 6/27/20

On June 27, 2020, Pamela performed the Bach Fuga from the G Minor Solo Sonata for her seasonal solo violin concert in Basking Ridge, NJ. The concert provided an opportunity for Pamela to showcase all of her hard work learning this very difficult piece. She was very excited to play it before friends, family, and other students. It was inspiring for everyone to hear Pamela play, especially the younger musicians.

North Jersey High School Regional Orchestra

As a Freshman, Pamela auditioned for a place in the North Jersey High School Regional Orchestra. Being accepted into the first violin section, Pamela was thrilled to play in this orchestra’s concert on February 9, 2020, at the James Caldwell High School in Caldwell, NJ. It was inspiring for Pamela to play alongside an orchestra full of North Jersey’s top musicians.

New Jersey Youth Symphony Concert 1/26/2020

On January 26, 2020, in the Richardson auditorium of Princeton University, Pamela performed with the Youth Symphony orchestra group of New Jersey Youth Symphony. The concert presented works by African American women composers, Julia Perry’s Short Piece for Large Orchestra and Florence Price’s Symphony No. 3 in C Minor. In addition, classical pieces by Beethoven, Haydn, and Verdi were performed. This was the last formal concert of the year before the pandemic hit.

Newark Academy Concert 1/12/2020

After practicing for the first semester of school, Pamela performed in the first violin section of the Newark Academy Orchestra, on January 12, 2020. This winter concert was let by conductor Amy Emelianoff, where they played Camille Saint-Saëns’s Danse Macabre, Mendelssohn and more. Parents of the orchestra students were so proud to hear the progress that the students had made in just half the year – a testimony to their dedication and hard work.

Care One Concert 12/20/19

Pamela and the members of the Newark Academy’s Chamber Orchestra traveled and performed at the Care One home for senior citizens in Livingston, NJ on December 20, 2019. The students prepared a wonderful selection of holiday themed music and classical pieces for the residents. The Care One community was thrilled to listen to the beautiful music and welcome visitors! The members of the Chamber Orchestra were so proud to be able to lift the spirits of the residents and bring them joy at such a special time of the year.

New Jersey Youth Symphony Concert 12/8/19

On December 8, 2019, Pamela performed in the New Jersey Youth Symphony Orchestra concert. In this program, the Youth Symphony Orchestra played Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite alongside the New Jersey Youth Symphony Jazz Big Band playing Duke Ellington’s jazz rendition of the Nutcracker. This was especially meaningful for Pamela as she had previously danced with the Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker Company for many years. This repertoire put the entire audience in the holiday spirit!

New Jersey Youth Symphony Concert 10/26/19

Pamela played in the New Jersey Youth Symphony’s Youth Symphony orchestra group (its highest level orchestra) at the Montclair State University’s Webster Hall on October 26, 2019. They performed Verdi’s La Forza del Destino Overture and Liszt’s Les Préludes. Then, with the Montclair State University orchestra, they played Wagner’s famed Ride of the Valkyries. The blending of a college-level and high school-level orchestra was truly beautiful.
